Mmmmm, cookies!!!

So I've had the Sims II Pets for months now, but when I finally got up the courage to install it (and thus lose hours of my day consumed in a Sim world) it wouldn't work. Tried everything I could think of to no avail. Well, I got re-motivated the other night and tried again and I now having working Sims Pets!

Spent a few hours playing, made my virtual greyhound dog, and had way too much fun squeeing over every little thing he did. And was nervous when I saw him run in an unfenced yard, heee!!!

Too fun and I'll definitely be playing again soon!! If I don't update for weeks, you can assume I was sucked deep into Sim-world

I may be a second class geek, but I would be truly lost without my cell phone and my computer. The hours a day I spend online, while probably bad for me, fill my life in a certain way that other things (such as TV) never could. I've made some excellent friends, laughed, cried, and helped others in ways I never could have imagined since I got involved in a few different internet communities.

And my cell phone - while I'm definitely not a phone addict, I remember on days like today that my cell phone, with it's super cheap plan, it's neverending minutes, and it's nationwide abilities, allow me to keep in touch with the people who matter the most, whenever I want :o)

Three cheers for technology!

New Tivo - April 5

So P brought home a new fancy Tivo so I would stop bitching about Lost not getting recorded because all of his shows were on at the same time. This was really an extravagance that we didn't need by any means, but he spent his own money on it, so who am I to complain.

I forgot what a pain in the ass programming the Tivo is. Sure, it was all fun and exciting the first time, but having this new Tivo (named Stevo), he wants to suggest every friggen show on TV, doesn't have folders, and couldn't find half of our shows for the first two nights. Really made me miss Ted the Tivo. Boo hoo.

But, on the bright side, I won't be stuck watching Lost on my 17" monitor anymore!

Crazy Cleaning Frenzy - April 4

Today was my day off and I wanted to get four things done - make a phone call, clean off my desk, mail something, and some other minor task.

Unfortunately, every time I would go to clean my desk, I would get horribly distracted. I would move something from my desk to somewhere else, and then get totally entranced there.

Because of this, I now have two totally clean and organized cupboards.

A very organized closet complete with labeled boxes.

And all my bathroom cupboards are incredibly organized. And I have a big box titled "unused drugs" that holds enough prescription pain killers for me to go into the business. Hee.

But, my desk looks worse than before. Despite an entire day TRYING to clean it. How does this happen?!

Biskies - April 3

Biskies - April 3

S. spent her weekend making homemade doggy treats and since they were not a big hit with her pup, she brought us a big bag of them today. Chicken flavored and peanut butter flavored! Needless to say, the hounds loved them and I felt special because she baked homemade doggy treats and shared them with us. Awwww....

Contacts Ahoy! - April 2

Contacts Ahoy! - April 2
Originally uploaded by wemdoe.

Today, I wore contacts to work. This is like the 6th time in a year I've worn my contacts. And I really need to do it more often, because I was in a great mood the entire day because I felt great about the way I looked. I feel a million times better about myself when I wear contacts because I think I look SO MUCH better in them, but because of past problems with my eyes, I basically stopped wearing them in the fall of 2005. These new contacts seem to be working out pretty well and today showed me that I really need to get to the eye doctor, get my 'scrip' updated, and order some new contacts and wear them all the time. I like to think that I have decent self esteem, but I didn't really realize until today how crappy wearing glasses was making me feel!

I finally finished this book today. I feel like I have been reading it for months. Scratch that, I HAVE been reading it for months - I'm pretty sure I checked it out in February and I know I've renewed it several times already. It was actually a book I really enjoyed, just one that I never could bring myself to read at home, so I've been inching through it, 28 minutes a day every day I worked. And now I'm done and can stop feeling guilty about all the other books I want to read! Yay!

This site is like total and complete crack to me. $5.99 a piece for awesome, good quality jewelry. I've already purchased and received a pair of earrings and a ring that everyone has raved about (and assumed that I purchased from the much much more expensive Lia Sophia) and today, I had a coupon for a dollar off, so I bought two more rings. For $4.99 each! I've spent literally hours watching stuff on this site. I think I'm going to have to ban myself from there, before I piss away what tiny discretionary income I do have, $5.99 at a time....

I had to jump on the bandwagon. For over a year now, I've heard absolutely nothing but how comfortable Crocs are, how super they are, how absolutely revolutionary they are, and how if they weren't so damn ugly, everyone on earth would own a pair. Someone on GT posted a link to get Crocs for a super great deal of $18 (they regularly sell for around $40) so I had to jump on that deal. My Crocs came today, in their pretty purple silliness, and much to my disappointment, they're way too big. Thankfully, shoebuy.com has some of the best customer service I've ever experienced and not only did I not have to pay shipping or tax when I bought them, they are even paying shipping for me to exchange them for a smaller size. Awesome!

I always swore I would never buy my dogs jewelry. But then one of the greyhound jewelry stores (yes, there is such a thing) went out of business and clearanced off all their inventory at super low prices. And I had a few bucks gifted to me by an internet friend, so now my hounds have bling. Customized bling. Easter bling. Every day bling. Those lucky bastards!

So how lucky was I that when I went to the "big city" today, they were celebrating the release of Happy Feet (total crap by the way) and I got to pose with a good natured guy dressed as a penguin? I was WAAY too excited by this and I think the guy was a little shocked when I whipped out a camera and asked to get my picture taken with him. But hey, that's why I have a little camera that I carry with me, right? I also met a random new (to me) greyhound at the dog park and partook in eating some heavenly Coldstone Creamery ice cream, so the day was fairly super!

Letters from the Nurse - March 26

So my allergist and her nurse want me to be tested for some disease that slips my mind now. It affects infants and many infants die from it. I'm obviously not an infant and was kind of surprised they wanted me to have this test. I did find out that I had this test not only once, but twice when I was little, so I don't need to have it now. Only, I've called the clinic several times to relay this information to them and no one will let me leave a damn message and the people I need to talk to are never there! It is a bit ridiculous, but not nearly as ridiculous as the fact that I got a hand written letter from one of the nurses today. Hand written. Like 1980s style. Even though I have not seen a single person in their office without a tablet PC in hand, she sat down and hand wrote me a little letter. Wow.

And for once, I feel like that is in my reach. Yay rainbows.

Granted, we were over half an hour late and drove over 70 mph on the backroads to get there, but at least we showed up, right? I basically wanted to see her house and meet her dog and had absolutely no intention of buying anything, but I ended up buying two things - a ring for my mom (to replace her ring that shit out and since I lost the receipt, I can use the receipt from this purchase to return the old one - woot!) and a pair of earrings so S could get a piece she wanted half price (they have a buy 2, get one 1/2 price deal) Anyway, the party filled up three hours of my Friday night, caused me to have a funny story about driving home with a case of beer, and will make my mom happy when she gets her new ring. In the meantime, I'm swearing off all Lia Sophia parties for the next year!

Between an e-mail and a visit from the only really decent person on the board, I learned today that apparently I have been removed from the board of directors for the Humane Society. I missed the January meeting due to a doctor's appointment far away, the February meeting because I felt like shit, and the March meeting because of Joe's vet appointment, and therefore, have been removed from the board. I can't say I'm very heartbroken since I've been counting down the days for over a year now, but it will be a pain in the ass to collect and return some of the random shit I've accumulated from there in the last three years. Oh well.

A Night Out - March 16th

A Night Out - March 16th
Originally uploaded by wemdoe.

Tonight, to celebrate S.'s birthday last weekend and me surviving the week of potential Joe-cancer-hell, S and I went out to eat and then for a night on the town. After several hours and over $50 spent at Applebees, we moved onto the bar, partook in 2-for-1s, and then went and ate drunken breakfast at Perkins. We laughed until we cried, screamed over loud music, and both laughed that the fact that both of our gift cards combined didn't cover our lush-ness at Applebees. Definitely have to have another Night Out again soon after this!
